Wow. Who knew a year could bring so many things within. Looking back it feels so long ago, from going to school full day and not having the slightest concern, and the next thing you know everything is shutting down.

Taking my freshman year in last year, I was patiently waiting for the spring sports season to come… but it never really did. It was hard hearing the season wouldn’t continue on but in the end there is nothing you can do other than accept the fact and put in the work to be better. Quarantine gave the time to put in that work and prepare for next season, only to know it wouldn’t happen again either.

Taking it back to the fall of 2020, after quarantine was old news and people were starting to get out again, it was go time with sports. My club softball team had started back up again with practices and fall tournaments. In the beginning of the season, I sprained my ankle which put me out for the rest of the season. After doctors appointments and physical therapy, I thought it would make me 110% for school season. After conditioning started back up in January, something just didn’t feel right. Long story short, after many other doctors appointments, the only option to fix what I have was surgery. It sucked, hearing it come from all the different doctors we had been too.

It brought many different emotions, being frustrated and angry with the timing, and sad that I waited all year looking forward to this season with the last one getting cut short. Knowing the recovery process and how long it is going to take, ya it really just sucks.

At the end of the day this is not the news I was wanting to get, but what can you do? Well the answer is to go with it, put the time to recover, properly and to be healthy to pick it back up in the fall. Anyone who has gone through challenges knows what it is like and how hard it is, but the biggest take away from this is to always look on the bright side of things.
